Birth and the Microbiome

70% of the immune system resides in the gut.  One of the key players in immunity is a person’s microbiome – the collection of 100 trillion bacteria and other microorganisms that inhabit the digestive tract, skin, and other body organs.  The moment you are born these microorganisms, or bugs, begin making a home in our bodies.

Your baby gets his microbiome from you – at birth, during labor and delivery.  Your microbiome is impacted (or changes) during pregnancy and the choices you make during this time (what you eat, medications you take, level of activity, avoidance of alcohol and tobacco, good sleep) influence the development of your baby's microbiome. To ensure your baby has the best possible start it is important to keep your microbiome healthy during pregnancy.

Dual Prenatal Immunity probiotic is an easy way to ensure baby gets what he needs before, and during delivery, to support a healthy microbiome.*

The UpSpring Difference

Our specially formulated probiotic (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN001™) has been clinically studied for over a decade, beginning with pregnant women, through birth, and up to their child’s 11th birthday.

Those babies whose moms took Lactobaciliius Rhamnosus HN001 during pregnancy had fewer immune problems indicating the benefits were passed from mom to baby in utero.  UpSpring Prenatal Dual Immunity uses this same probiotic strain, Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN001, that has been tested in long-term double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials and shown to have clinically proven benefits for your growing baby!

The Most Important Thing to Know About Choosing the Right Probiotic

If choosing a probiotic leaves you feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. What are you supposed to be looking for? The species? The blend? The brand? Well, it’s actually fairly simple because it’s all about the strain and the amount that was studied, which is how a probiotic is best targeted for your specific needs.

Probiotics are classified first by genus, then species, and finally the strain. If you have the right genus and species, but not the right strain, you may be wasting your money. Dual Prenatal Immunity is formulated with Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN001. Genus: Lactobacillus. Species: Rhamnosus. Strain: HN001, and at the CFU level that was studied.

Probiotics are classified kind of like cars are. (We know that sounds weird, but bear with us.) Lactobacillus, the genus, can be compared to the brand. The species, Rhamnosus, can be compared to the model. And the strain, HN001, can be compared to the specific features of the car. Those features on your car – from the paint color to the seat warmer to the backup camera – are what provide the unique experience and performance when you drive it. With probiotics, historically, most of the attention has been placed on the genus and the species, but the strain is one of the most important parts. The strain determines how that particular probiotic performs and what it can be used for – much the way the features on your car dictate your driving experience.

Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN1001™ is a signature probiotic strain from HOWARU® and found in UpSpring Dual Prenatal Immunity. HN001™ has been rigorously tested and studied studied in pregnant women, nursing women, infants, and babies up to age 2 years in a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. Researchers then followed these children at age 4, 6, and 11 years, so for more than a decade. Those whose moms took Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN001™ during pregnancy plus an additional 6 months while breastfeeding had fewer immune problems, indicating the benefits were passed from mom to baby in utero and through breast milk.

FAQs

During pregnancy, take one capsule daily with water in addition to your prenatal vitamin. You can continue using after baby's born too! If you're breastfeeding, take one capsule daily to continue passing along immunity benefits to baby. If you aren't breastfeeding, open the capsule and dissolve powder into cold or room temperature formula or food. Give to baby for continued immune support!

You can begin taking it at any point during your pregnancy, but we recommend starting as early as possible to help support your natural immune defenses.*

You can pass immune benefits on to your baby if you take UpSpring Dual Prenatal Immunity while breastfeeding. If you aren’t breastfeeding you can also help build your baby’s immune system by opening up the capsules and dissolving the powder into her food or formula. Your baby will still be developing her immune system up until about age two to three.  Moms, of course, can experience the benefits at any time – before, during, or after pregnancy.

Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN001, a clinically studied probiotic strain proven to have lasting effects on baby’s immunity.*[i]

Unlike many other supplements, the active ingredient in UpSpring Dual Prenatal Immunity has been studied in a long-term double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial with pregnant mamas and shown to have positive (and lasting) benefits for baby.*

UpSpring Dual Prenatal Immunity is not a prenatal vitamin. It is an immunity supplement with dual benefits for both mom and baby, designed to be taken during pregnancy alongside (not instead of) a prenatal vitamin.

UpSpring Dual Prenatal Immunity is designed with prenatal stomachs in mind. It helps balance gut health and is well tolerated by pregnant tummies!*
